As you can tell from my semi-coherent comments to the CEBro, it was a long trip out to Whistler. The scene in Vancouver was pretty incredible, over 100,000 people crowding Robson Street partying till the wee hours of the night.
However, Whistler is definitely the heart of the Olympic experience. Live bands like the Bare Naked Ladies, Sam Roberts, and the original Canadian hip hop artist Mistro Fresh Wes played the Whistler Live stage day and night. The bars and streets were packed with après enthusiasts.
With the bobsled, luge, skeleton, as well as nordic and alpine events all around the corner there are plenty of events to check out. CTV broadcasts live commentary from the village near the Excalibur Gondola. Not to mention that due to the restricted access of cars heading up to the village there seems to be literally nobody on the hill if you wanted to make some turns. Temperatures in the 60’s and blue bird days for most of the past week made for pretty incredible conditions.
If for some reason people hadn’t ranked Whistler as one of the top après spots in North America prior to the Olympics, it should definitely be up there now.
