Well, I think it is safe to say that we are all getting a little antsy for the upcoming season. Annual equipment checks / surveys have begun, new purchases have been planned, and both co-founders have started growing mustaches for the Warren Miller premier night. For those of you as anxious as we are, I have some good news: the upper valley region of NH / VT experienced its first frost warning Sunday night (seriously). I actually got to experience this cold streak first hand, and the chill in the air felt great (for those of you that don’t know, I’ve recently quit my day job amidst mounting pressure from both of my bosses here at Apres and moved up to ski country to serve as a reporter on the ground – this, of course, is in addition to my normal duties as Chief Fashion Officer). The air up here is crisp, the leaves are changing, and our first dusting can’t be too far away. With any luck, we’ll have mountains open in 6-7 weeks.
This weekend I may venture out to Killington to check for fashion deals, and maybe pick up a new pair of twigs if the price is right (never to early to add to the quiver, even if I’m not medically cleared to ski until Feb). I’ll report back on anything I see, and for those of you in the immediate area don’t sleep on a pre-season trip to the mountains to bargain hunt.
Lastly, stay tuned for a fall fashion preview once the major lines release their 2010 offerings. The word I’m getting from my industry contacts in Milan / Paris / New York is that mixing and matching of colors / brands is in. Unsurprisingly neck warmers are still out.
